HISTORY: Graduate Fellowships were established in honor of Alpha Lambda Delta's top leaders. This scholarship was created to help students seeking graduate/professional programs of study. Since 1940, over 600 ALD members have received fellowships.
DETAILS: There are 26 graduate fellowships are awarded each year: one $7,000 fellowship, one $5,000 fellowship, four $4,000 fellowships, four $3,000 fellowships, and eighteen $2,000 fellowships. These fellowships have been established to help qualified members obtain graduate or professional degrees. Candidates will be considered on the basis of merit.
DEADLINE: The recommended application deadline for this scholarship is January 14, 2023 to the Salem State University chapter (so that we can provide recommendations for enhancing your application.) Applications can be emailed to [email protected]. Students DO NOT have to submit first to the Salem State University chapter and can submit their final application directly to the national office by February 1, 2023 if they so choose (using the directions on the national website, linked below.)
Eligibility
Must be a member of ALD.
Cumulative GPA 3.5 or higher maintained through graduation; if graduating this year, a member may apply if they have achieved this average by the end of the first semester of the current year.
Enrolled (or plan to be enrolled) full time in graduate or professional degree program of an accredited institution in the United States.
Selection will be based on academic records, recommendations submitted, essay questions, and campus and community activities.
Applicants must not have received this scholarship previously.
Fellowship Stipulations
Acceptance of the fellowship obliges the recipient to begin and complete the year of study outlined in the application. The recipient must be enrolled full-time and be working toward an advanced degree.
Any request by a recipient for an exception to the previously stated will be directed to the ALD National Office.
Fellowships cannot be deferred; applicants who are not studying during the year specified need to decline the scholarship and reapply when appropriate.
Application Requirements
Complete official transcripts from each college/university attended.
Two letters of recommendation, with at least one being from a faculty member or instructor of record.
